Leveling 1–100

The full progression route from level 1 to 100 — the questline-led early game, the gear milestones to hit on the way up, and the endgame XP sources (the Valley of Death tournament, sieges and daily war) that carry you to the cap.

Key takeaway

There's no single "best XP farm" — Gloria Victis rewards playing the game. Kills, crafting, gathering, filling a bastion's supply, fishing and the Arena all give experience, so the fastest route is to keep moving between activities rather than repeating one.

Phase 1 · Levels 1–20 — find your feet

  • Run the capital questline — it's the smoothest early XP and hands you starter gear.
  • Drill combat in the Arena (open from level 1) between quests; it pays character XP.
  • Around level 15 the Valley of Death opens to you — a safe, non-loot PvP tournament (below).
  • Castle sieges become realistic around level 20 — and level 18 unlocks siege notifications and a teleport to besieged holds.

Phase 2 · Levels 20–50 — build toward the war

  • Keep following the quest chain — focused, it can carry you to about level 50 with tier-3 gear.
  • Commit to one weapon type and spend ability points toward its core passives — don't spread thin. Plan it with Ascent.
  • Mix in gathering and crafting (mining, woodcutting, farming) — it levels you and funds your gear.
  • Start taking real fights: border skirmishes, the Valley of Death, and your first sieges. Don't bring gear you can't afford to lose into the loot zone.

The mid-game has a named story/quest chain beyond the tutorial; the live sequence is best followed in-game and on the official wiki — we don't reprint quest names we can't verify against the current patch.

Phase 3 · Levels 50–100 — the war is the grind

Past the questline there's no linear track — you level by playing the persistent war. The richest, most repeatable sources:

  • The Valley of Death tournament — a scheduled, non-loot PvP event that runs several times a day (press U in-game for the timetable). Reliable XP and the best practice for real fights.
  • Sieges & open-world PvP — every kill pays XP and Nation Points; this is the endgame loop.
  • Daily challenges and group events — steady XP that also feed your guild's war effort.
  • High-tier crafting, gathering and fishing — still meaningful XP at the cap, and how you stay geared.

Our Valley of Death timer (in the site header) converts the datamined schedule to your local time, so you can plan your sessions around the next tournament.

Gear milestones to sync with your level

LevelAim for
~45Full tier-3 ("green") gear and a solid tool kit, mostly from the questline.
~60A blue/quality core set and a decent trained horse if you ride.
~75An optimised passive spread for your weapon; refine your build.
100A min-maxed loadout — but remember skill and gear-matchups beat raw level in most fights.

Plan the climb

Each level grants 5 attribute points and 1 ability point. Decide the destination in the Build Maker (or pick one from the Build Tier List), then feed it into Ascent to get the exact, legal point order from level 1 to 100 — including when each ability tier unlocks. Reset costs are modest, so you can adjust as you go.
